Almost as soon as he stepped on the field as the starting quarterback for the Oregon Ducks, Dante Moore has impressed as far as what his future NFL prospects may look like.
And while he has the option the return to Oregon in 2026, as he's started just 16 games thus far in his college career, that's not stopping draft analysts from diving into his film. The Ringer's Todd McShay, who emphatically expects Moore to return to college, was the latest to offer his opinion on the Ducks' standout passer.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"He's the best pure passer in the country," he said in his latest "The McShay Show" podcast. "He sees the whole field, he stays in rhythm, he goes from one progression to the next and he's still developing because he doesn't have the great game experience. But you can see him do it."
McShay continued, praising Moore even further for his throwing motion.
"There is a definite progression being made by Dante Moore right now. And I'm also seeing the easiest stroke that you can find out there. Just smooth stroke, everything is thrown catchable, layering the ball, hitting spots, leading receivers open."
Moore has had perhaps the best two-game stretch of his career in the past two weeks, throwing for 250-plus yards in two straight games for the first time in career. He's thrown four touchdown passes and one interception in that span that included critical wins against the Minnesota Golden Gophers and USC Trojans in order to keep Oregon's College Football Playoff hopes alive.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes passer was drafted No. 2 in 2023 and promptly won Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl on his way to leading the Texans to the playoffs after tossing 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions. Injuries and offensive line issues have led to struggles in each of the past two seasons for Stroud, yet he remains one of the top pure passers in football and is lauded for his composure and smooth throwing motion — exactly how McShay seems to view Moore.
It's certainly high praise from McShay, who has seen a lot during his nearly 20 years as a draft analyst. And it's not hard to see, as Moore and Stroud have a similar play-style as smooth passers.
When healthy and with an able offensive unit around him, Stroud is considered amongst the upper-tier of quarterbacks in the NFL. If Moore were to match or exceed that level, it's hard to see that as anything less than a success.
