By Maria Azzurra VolpeShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberA woman from Savannah, Georgia, has shared a video of her foster puppy’s first ever night in a home, with a bed, and internet users can’t cope with his reaction.
The heartbreaking clip shared on TikTok earlier in November under the username @mythologicaldogs, shows the puppy napping in his first ever bed, enjoying every minute of his new life full of love and support.
“Today I brought home a foster that’s never ever been inside a house before, and as soon as we got home, he went to sleep, like his body crashed, he was exhausted,” the poster, Laurel Lingenfelter, says in the post.
“It’s been hours, and just a few seconds ago he started crying. So, we’re going to go check on him and see how he’s doing.”
...Lingenfelter told Newsweek that when Charlie first stepped foot into her home, he walked into his crate containing a fluffy bed and laid down, and he didn’t move from there for over five hours.
“He took his first nap ever in a quiet place. The first nap where he was truly safe. When he woke up, he started crying. I was sitting in the living room and I heard him. I thought he might have to potty or want to come out finally”, she said.
“I went to check on him, and he still wouldn’t leave the bed and crate. He submissively licked his lips, showed me his belly, and wagged his tail. He didn’t want to come out, he just wanted someone to sit with him while he enjoyed his new comforts and safety. I sat with him for over an hour, just petting him until he fell asleep again.”
Charlie was born on the streets, where he lived for over six months with his mom and seven litter siblings before being rescued.
“They had an owner who surrendered them to us and let us help. Charlie was the smallest and shyest”, she added.
Taking a foster means giving a shelter pup a temporary home while helping to socialize them and get them ready for their new forever home. If you want to get involved with fostering pets, ask your local shelter or veterinarian to point you in the right direction.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 4.2 million views and 565,300 likes on the platform.
One user, Samantha, commented: “I would be a foster fail every single time.”
Dlm245 wrote: “I fostered three times years ago and all three are happily sleeping in my king size bed with me.”
Ally Burnham said: “How can people mistreat animals so badly that they are anxious messes like this.”
