The Miss Universe Organization has shared an update on the health of Dr. Gabrielle Henry, this year’s contestant for Miss Jamaica, following her shocking fall in the 2025 Miss Universe pageant.

The organization said that "matters concerning her health should be communicated only at the appropriate time and solely at the family's discretion," and slammed "unfounded speculation" over Henry’s health.

Why It Matters

The Miss Universe pageant is one of the most-watched and influential beauty competitions in the world.

And this year's installation was one of the most eventful—and scandalous—in recent memory, after Miss Grand International (MGI) president Nawat Itsaragrisil made controversial comments regarding Miss Mexico, which led to multiple contestants walking out.

...

Another dramatic event involved Henry taking a huge fall off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round on November 19. Henry, an ophthalmologist, and crowned Miss Jamaica 2025, was walking on the runway in an orange gown during the event in Bangkok before she appeared to miss a step and plunged from the stage and was taken to the hospital.

What To Know

Following the fall, there has been rampant speculation online over Henry’s health.

Now, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization has shared an update following the incident, in an official statement shared to Dr. Gabrielle’s Instagram. This statement came after Henry’s sister, Phylicia Henry-Samuels, said in a post that Henry wasn’t "doing as well as we would have hoped".

"Out of respect for Dr. Henry and her family, the Organization maintains strict discretion regarding specific details of her medical status. We believe that matters concerning her health should be communicated only at the appropriate time and solely at the family’s discretion, or by Dr. Henry herself should she choose to do so," the statement read.

The statement detailed that following the incident, there had been "difficult moments" and "unexpected concerns" and specified that the Miss Universe Organization has "assumed one hundred percent of all related expenses".

The statement detailed that the "latest medical report confirms that Dr. Gabrielle Henry is in good health and nearing discharge".

The Miss Universe Jamaica team has previously called this a "profoundly difficult time," calling on Jamaicans "at home and across the Diaspora to continue keeping Gabrielle in their prayers."

What People Are Saying

The Miss Universe Organization, in a statement shared to Instagram: "We will continue to communicate only essential information with professionalism, sensitivity and respect. While unfounded speculation has circulated publicly, our full attention has remained on Dr. Henry’s care and recovery. We are grateful that she is now close to being close to being released from the hospital."
