Arne Slot’s future at Liverpool has become a source of speculation in recent weeks.

The Dutch boss finds himself under mounting pressure following a dismal run of eight defeats in 11 matches.

Rumours on social media claimed the Reds are courting Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann to replace the 47-year-old at Anfield.

However, the Daily Mail’s Dominic King reports that Liverpool retain their faith in Slot and are not interested in signing Nagelsmann.

King said on x: “Talk about Julian Nagelsmann being a contender to replace Slot: nonsense.

“He wasn’t a candidate to replace Klopp and Liverpool aren’t looking to change their head coach.”

Liverpool were being regarded as favourites for the Premier League title at the start of the season.

They invested over £450 million on new players in the summer, bringing in Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike.

But Slot has failed to unlock their potential so far, with Isak not replicating the form he showed at Newcastle United. He has scored just one goal in nine appearances across all competitions.

Wirtz has also failed to make his mark in the Premier League since joining from Bayer Leverkusen, with no goal contributions in 11 league matches.

Ekitike has fared better than the other two, but still has scored just three goals in 11 top-flight appearances.

Slot has plenty of credit in the bank given he delivered a Premier League title in his debut season.

But things can change quickly in football, and the 47-year-old must improve results soon to secure his future in Merseyside.

Slot’s men will look to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, as they host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday.
