Midway through the first quarter of the Golden State Warriors' 117-134 win over the Utah Jazz, Steve Kerr was visibly irate with his team during a timeout. The veteran head coach was animated on the sidelines, as he held his players accountable for a sluggish start to the game.
Kerr's tough love clearly worked, as the Warriors quickly asserted themselves on both sides of the floor, leading to an impressive win for the franchise. When speaking with the media after the game, Kerr addressed the timeout and gave a brief indication of what was said during the huddle.
"We just lost our focus," Kerr said. "And I just wanted to gently remind them that we needed to focus more... Anytime you're in a rut as a team and you've lost a few, you have to dig your way out. And that just means you have to compete every possession. You gotta be locked into the game plan. It didn't surprise me the way we started, you know, missing our first five or six shots."
The victory over Utah was the 10th of the Warriors' season, and a sign that the roster is still capable of producing strong offensive performances when it's fully locked in on the task at hand. Warriors fans will likely avoid getting too excited, as Golden State has struggled to build on wins in recent weeks.
