While the Golden State Warriors are working hard to return to their winning ways, big shoe companies are also on a winning quest of their own to sign Stephen Curry, the biggest "sneaker free agent" at the moment.
In the past two weeks, Curry has been making headlines for his interesting choices. He has come to games and warmed up in Jordans, Reeboks, Nikes and Li-Nings, a freedom he has been enjoying since parting ways with Under Armour.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHis independent Curry Brand, once a subsidiary of UA, has not yet joined any shoe company, that is, if it intends to do so. However, Steph has shown his openness to "new beginnings" by rocking multiple shoe brands during the Golden State Warriors' past few games.
And after the Golden State Warriors' victory over the Utah Jazz, he made a statement that could have spurred shoe companies to up their game.
"Everybody should be on alert," Curry told reporters. "I'm calling everybody. Trying to get some good product."

Curry pulled up at the Chase Center wearing "Flu Game" Air Jordan XII. After that, he switched it with "Last Shot" Air Jordan XIV. After the victory, he revealed that his selection for today's game was intentional.
It can be recalled that the Chicago Bulls won two of their six championships against the Jazz franchise, in 1997 and 1998 – two finals series where Michael Jordan showcased his greatness with legacy-defining performances.

Then in Game 6 of next year's finals, MJ dropped 45 points, including the iconic "Last Shot" – a stepback mid-range jumper that sealed the Bulls' sixth title and second three-peat.
Before the Warriors' game against the Jazz, Curry decided to pay homage to Jordan by wearing the Bulls legend's shoes named after those historic moments.

"It's just fun to, again, honor certain eras, moments in the game, current athletes who are doing great things and just having fun with it."

Curry hasn't played in Nike's for a while
Although Curry has ended his partnership with Under Armour, he still wears Curry Brand shoes during games. However, he broke that pattern against the Jazz.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFor the first time since 2013, he played in an NBA game wearing Nike shoes, rocking Sabrina Ionescu's "IONESCREW" Sabrina 3s. The New York Liberty star attended the game, where Curry posted 31 points and four rebounds.
"It was kind of a coincidence — I didn't know she was going to be here until yesterday — and I just had a pair of shoes, and it was a great moment," the former MVP said. "She's doing amazing things, she's a champ and to honor another Bay Area athlete that's doing amazing stuff."
