Voting for the main award will take place during the live show on 18 December 2025. Voting for Team of the Year will open in advance of the live show but will also be promoted and resolved during the live show. The 2025 shortlist of contenders will be announced before the live show (please refer to Award Information for further details on process).
Voting will only be available online, via the BBC Sport app or via the BBC Sport website. There is no voting via phone call, email, Red Button or by text.

The BBC reserves the right to cancel or suspend voting at any time if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred or if it considers there has been any deliberate attempt to manipulate the result. In the event of any such cancellation or suspension, a technical failure or any other malfunction with the vote, the BBC reserves the right to arrange for the winner to be decided by a contingency arrangement from the votes cast by an expert independent panel (see Award Information for further details on the panel). The BBC can only guarantee that votes individually entered directly through the Sports Personality website and BBC Sport app will count.
