Real Madrid are set to fly to Athens as they take on Olympiacos on Wednesday in Matchweek 5 of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League group stage.

The Merengues find themselves under intense pressure and scrutiny, having failed to win their last three matches, which includes a defeat to Liverpool in Europe.

Ahead of the trip to Greece, Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has announced the squad list to face Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men, with two fresh absentees and one player returning.

Aurelien Tchouameni is back in the squad after missing the matches against Rayo Vallecano and Elche through injury.

The Frenchman’s availability comes as a timely boost for Alonso, who is running out of resources in defence.

As already reported, Thibaut Courtois misses the trip due to gastroenteritis, while Dean Huijsen is also ruled out after not training today because of discomfort. The pair join Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Dani Carvajal on the sidelines.

Given the situation, Raul Asencio is left as the only fit senior centre-back in the squad and Tchouameni could be asked to step in as his partner.

With Courtois ruled out, Andriy Lunin is set to start in goal while Javi Navarro has been called up as the third goalkeeper in the squad.

Meanwhile, Franco Mastantuono is also not yet back as he continues to recover from pubalgia.
