2024 Olympian and Under-18 400-meter world record holder Quincy Wilson committed to Maryland track and field, he announced Monday. He chose the Terps over South Carolina, USC, UCLA and Texas A&M.
A Gaithersburg, Maryland native, Wilson became the youngest male track-and-field Olympian in U.S. history. He earned a gold medal as part of the 4×400 meter relay pool. Competing for the Bullis School, he set the Under-18 indoor world record in the 400 meters with a time of 44.20.

He began competing nationally in 2022, winning his fifth AAU Junior Olympic Games title that year and taking the 400-meter final in 47.77. By 2023, he had become one of the youngest American athletes to sign an NIL deal with a major sports brand when he partnered with New Balance.
His momentum continued into 2025, when his outdoor season times tied for the seventh-fastest in the world, and he successfully defended his indoor and outdoor 400-meter national titles at New Balance Nationals.
Wilson is now the first Olympic athlete to commit to Maryland’s track and field program. He joins a recent wave of top in-state recruits to sign with the Terps, such as Derik Queen, Baba Oladotun and Malik Washington.
