After having one whale of a season in 2025, Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta will want a better contract.

What's at stake here for the Brewers? Potentially seeing their ace walk and go to another team. Once Peralta hits free agency, then all bets are off. If Milwaukee lets him walk, then they would not get anything in return for Peralta.

That's why potentially making a deal that involves Peralta could be on the table for Brewers management.

Look at what Peralta did last season as the Brewers reached the National League Championship Series before losing to the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to an article from The Athletic, Peralta was worth 5.5 bWAR in 2025 and won an NL-best 17 games while posting a 2.70 ERA in 33 starts. Peralta finished fifth in the NL Cy Young Award balloting.

As veteran MLB insider and former general manager Jim Bowden wrote for The Athletic, should Peralta have another season like that one, he’ll be one of the top free agents available next season.

With that being the case, Bowden offered up five potential teams that could be in the market for Peralta.

Bowden, in his article, believes that a deal involving the Atlanta Braves could actually get done. In return for Peralta, Bowden wrote that the Braves could send Milwaukee right-handed pitcher JR Ritchie and shortstop Alex Lodise.

What about a deal with the Boston Red Sox? Peralta could go to the American League East Division team and the Brewers might get left-handed pitcher Payton Tolle and right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson back in return.

When Bowden brought up the New York Mets as a trade partner, he suggested that Peralta could go there in return for pitcher Brandon Sproat and infielder-outfielder Luisangel Acuña.

Then there's the New York Yankees, who appear to never run out of money to spend on free agents at all. In Bowden's observation, the Yankees could send pitcher Will Warren and shortstop Jose Caballero to Milwaukee.

Finally, Bowden offers up the San Francisco Giants as a possible trade partner. If the Brewers sent Peralta out to the Bay Area, then Milwaukee could get pitcher Landen Roupp and second baseman-shortstop Jhonny Level.

One team not mentioned in these five from Bowden, though, is the Dodgers. Could they potentially be an outlier here and swing a deal at the Winter Meetings for Peralta?

That's going to be something to watch, along with these five other teams, as the chatter about a potential Peralta deal heats up.
