Raheem Morris gives surgery updates on Michael Penix Jr., Billy Bowman

Despite dealing with some major injuries, the Atlanta Falcons were finally able to snap their five-game losing streak in Week 12. Prior to Sunday's 24-10 win over the New Orleans Saints, the Falcons placed quarterback Michael Penix Jr., defensive lineman Zach Harrison and cornerback Billy Bowman Jr. on the injured reserve list.

Penix suffered a partially torn ACL in Week 11, and Bowman tore his Achilles during Friday's practice. Both players will undergo major surgeries and face lengthy recoveries before they can return to the field. Head coach Raheem Morris provided updates at his Monday press conference.

Morris said Bowman would have surgery on Monday, and that Penix would have his later this week in Los Angeles. The Falcons head coach also said wants to keep both players engaged as they embark on lengthy recovery periods.

"You definitely want to keep those guys fresh," said Morris. "You definitely want to keep those guys within the game plans. You definitely want to keep those guys knowing exactly what's going on."

Morris did not have any info on wide receiver Drake London, who missed Week 12 with a knee injury, but there should be an update following Wednesday's practice.

The Falcons improved to 4-7 on the season, and will have a chance to get another win this weekend when they face the 2-9 New York Jets on the road.
