Xbox platforms have belatedly received indie hit Dave the Diver, but two expansions being free to download is a compelling compensation for the wait. Dave the Diver shadow dropped on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One during last week's Xbox Partner Preview, over two years after its debut on PC and Mac, and well after it gradually made its way to rival consoles.

The long wait for the deep-sea diving game may have been worth it in the long run, though, as Dave the Diver's Godzilla Content Pack and Dredge Content Pack are both free on Xbox. Another expansion, Like a Dragon crossover Ichiban's Holiday Content Pack, is still priced at $6.99 on Xbox. The Godzilla Content Pack (and Ichiban's Holiday) is only available for a limited time, according to TrueAchievements, but appears to be downloadable until December 31, 2026, so you have more than a year to claim it.

Dave The Diver Has 2 Free DLC Packs

Dave the Diver centers on, unsurprisingly, a diver who joins his friend in opening a sushi restaurant. You play as Dave, catching fish for the restaurant during the day, and serving customers in the evening. As you progress, Dave can dive deeper and for longer, and you'll begin running into large, dangerous creatures like a Giant Squid.

Dave the Diver's two free content packs simply build on the main gameplay loop with themed additions. Some of Dredge's foggy atmosphere carries over into Dave the Diver, as well as introducing new varieties of fish to catch. The Godzilla crossover adds the iconic kaiju to the game in a new set of missions. With Dave the Diver priced at just $20, the two free content packs contribute to what is a great deal for an absolute delight of a game.

Both Are Well Worth Checking Out

If you're getting Dave the Diver, or have already purchased it since its Xbox launch, there's really no reason not to get both free DLCs. Both the Godzilla and Dredge Content Packs are worth a look. Despite being different properties entirely, both work incredibly well with Dave the Diver's gameplay and vibe. Large sea creatures are already a key part of the game, so Godzilla fits right in, and the Dredge adds a whole new layer to fishing and serving sushi by introducing that game's aberrations.

Dave the Diver is already a must-play indie game, and its collaboration DLCs fit perfectly within the charming pixel-art title. It's a really great deal for new Dave the Diver players on Xbox, getting two content packs for free on top of the already reasonably priced game.
